São Luís features Luso-Brazilian architecture, a style that evolved from the fusion of Portuguese and Brazilian influences. The African influence is evident in the use of vibrant colors, patterns, and the overall vibrancy of the city. This influence is shown in the design of markets, spaces , and in the street life of São Luís.
Many buildings in São Luís have Portuguese tiles called azulejos. These colorful ceramic tiles often depict patterns, scenes, or religious themes, adding a decorative element to the architecture. Many churches in São Luís are Rococo or Baroque architectural styles, characterized by elaborate ornamentation, intricate detailing, and curved forms.
I have personally never visited this city but it is definitely the next place I will be visiting. Sao Luis has a lower cost of living in comparison to the lager Brazilian cities like Sao Paulo or Rio, and it’s known for its great seafood and shrimp dishes.
